What Is a Dental Exam?
At the beginning of your dental exam, we will thoroughly examine your teeth and gums to check for any cavities, misalignments, and gum issues. We may use a special probe tool to check your gums for deep pockets that can indicate gum disease. We may also examine your throat and tongue for signs of any infection or cancer. If anything of concern is found, our caring dentist will carefully explain to you what the issue is and what steps we recommend to improve your dental health.
What Are Dental X-Rays?
Dental X-rays are taken, along with other advanced imaging if necessary, to check the teeth for cavities and alignment issues. You will be given protective covering to wear during the X-ray. The dental X-rays will be reviewed thoroughly by our dentist and are an important part of developing a treatment plan, if needed.
What Is a Dental Cleaning?
The purpose of a dental cleaning is to remove plaque and tartar build up that collect on teeth and generate bacteria. The bacteria can cause problems - eating away at teeth and causing cavities and gum inflammation, which can turn into gum disease if not treated. Our skilled dental hygienist will clean your teeth using special tools to scrape away the plaque and tartar. Our hygienist will also floss and polish your teeth at the end of the cleaning.
